Ministries

Adult Sunday School

Our church places a high priority on Sunday School.  We gather as one body in our worship service as a demonstration of our unity.  But in a church of our size, we need outlets where growth can happen in the context of relationships.  The goal of our Adult Sunday Schools is to cultivate disciples of Jesus Christ, helping people grow in Christian maturity.

Men’s Ministry

The men meet on the first Saturday of the month for breakfast, fellowship, prayer and Bible teaching.  There is also a variety of men’s small groups that meet informally.  We have an annual retreat that launches our men’s ministry focus for the year.  Each year, the pastors offer intensive discipleship for a smaller group of men.  If you are interested in being part of this, contact one of the pastors.

Women’s Ministry

We desire to equip women to be loving disciples of Jesus Christ, encouraging them to live God-dependent lives through the diligent study of God’s Word.  The backbone of our women’s ministry is our Women’s Bible Study, which has an open enrollment and meets on Tuesday mornings and evenings.  We also offer MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers), an annual retreat, and other regular events and classes for the women.

Prayer

We desire our people to bring all that is on their mind before the Lord, particularly praying in light of God’s promises.  The pillar of our prayer ministry is the Watchman Prayer Ministry.  Over 50 of our members commit to intercede for our church one hour each week on a set schedule.  We also gather for extended prayer together once per week at our Wednesday evening service.

Music

We are strongly committed to a Word-centered inter-generational music ministry.  We have an adult choir, a senior adult choir, a variety of instrumentalists, a gospel quartet, and children’s choirs.

Children’s Ministry

The FBC Children’s ministry is about building a foundation in Christ and His Word that can be added to as each child grows in their walk with Him.  We want church to be fun and exciting for the children, but exciting games and programs don’t change lives; God’s Word does.  Thus, the focus of our children’s ministry is on teaching people the Bible and the gospel of Jesus found in the Bible.  We offer a comprehensive nursery program, Children’s Sunday School, Children’s Church (though we encourage children to worship with their parents, especially on Communion Sunday), Children’s Choirs, and AWANA.  Children’s Choirs meet on Wednesday night and AWANA meets on Wednesday night.

Student Ministries

Twelve One is the name of the student ministries department of First Baptist Lindale.  It comes from the passage in Romans 12:1-2 which says this:  “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.  Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

The mission of Twelve One student ministries is to graduate fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ who will be witnesses wherever they are by living a Twelve One lifestyle.

1)     Committed to offering their bodies as a living sacrifice (Be what you believe)

2)     Reject the patterns of this world (Be different)

3)     Seeking the transforming power of the Holy Spirit (Be Holy)

4)     In tune with God’s will for their life (Be discerning)

We will accomplish this through the context of relationships.  We will attempt to establish a Paul/Timothy discipleship relationship with EVERY STUDENT that we come in contact with.  A Paul for All.  Wherever we encounter students we will attempt to guide them from wherever they are down a path towards a Twelve One Lifestyle.   Our Wednesday night gathering time will be the primary entry point for students, but our leaders will always be encouraging students towards participation in small groups, retreats, Summer Camps, and missions projects which will all serve to further enhance the discipleship process.
